Movies

I like movies. all kinds of movies. indie films, old movies, chick flicks, Tarantino. some of my favorite movies have to be classics that made people stars... ie. Bull Durham, Enter the Dragon, Lethal Weapon . some of these movies might not be the actors first apearence but to me these movies are when i first noticed most of these actors. another of my favorite catagories is the "ensemble cast.". Such as the Empire Records , Reservoir Dogs , and most recently He's just not that into you . i know that most of these movies fall under two or more of my "favorite" catagories but that just brings me back to... I like movies. recently i saw an indie film on HBO i believe. Bottle Shock. Bill Pulman, Hanz from Die Hard (can't remember his name a the moment), and some other known people. kinda slow to stat not knowing what the movie was about or where it was taking me but in its defense it did keep me interested the whole way trhought (till 11:00 on a tuesday). pre

I'm just saying...

Tip for the week: Walking the Walk

In any business environment, if you propose an idea or a change to how things are done, be ready to go forward with said idea prior to making the proposal. This saves you a lot of grief in the immediate future and definitely lets your idea come to life. I recently suggested we change a few things on the way we teach new personal bankers that come into our region and how we track sales and etc... This was meant to be a ' suggestion' and not necessarily have the regional managers email me on what my plans are for setting this in motion starting next week. I spent the remainder of my weekend working up a ten step action plan with new guidelines... fun stuff. -FCJ

Playing till sober

I realize that people spend years learning classical instruments; piano and guitar lessons cost money that I never had to spend. I have recently decided, to the utmost enjoyment of my roommates and closest neighbors, that I am going to really start practicing the harmonica... Now when I say "really practicing" this actually means that any time I am drunk and near the instrument, I will pick it up and attempt to play for hours. Sounds like fun I know... BUT! I actually recorded my playing and realized that maybe, just maybe, I should give it up and burn everything associated with it. That or I should only play sober. The worst part of this is the fact that the majority of the time that i am drinking is somewhere between 10 PM and 2 AM. At the very least I think I should stop playing at midnight, shirtless, and on my roof. Scares the shit outta the neighbors. -FCJ

I think I have elves with a screwing problem.

Sounds like a low budget porn. To be fair they may have an unscrewing problem, which then makes it sound like porn from Alice in Wonder Land. I have been finding little screws all over my house, and I have no idea where they came from. Last night I stepped on a tiny screw that I swear could have been a rusty thumb tack. I searched the floor while balancing on one foot and holding the other, muttering half curse words because the kids were within earshot. “Son of a…What the f…Where the hel…I…ow!” Either I have a lot of items around the house that are on the verge of falling apart or I have some little creature dropping screws out of its pockets or there could be a some kind of mini metal robot running around shitting out screws all over the place, which would explain why the purple cat is scared to go downstairs.

I never understood ‘Business Casual’

Let me start out by stating that I hate, hate, hate business and business casual dress. I feel uncomfortable, stuffy and self conscious all day long. There are some people who tend to do well in slacks and a button down shirt. For example, FCJ seems to be very comfortable in the monkey suit that he has to wear to the office and if I remember correctly has been known to wear a similar costume when not in the office. Others like Captn. Punc. have only to don dress pants or slacks (I still don’t know the difference) during special events that require him to do so (i.e. he was told to do so). I believe the last time he had to wear them was during his wedding and I strongly suspect he had on jeans underneath. As for myself, the first thing I do when I get home is go change into something more to my liking, usually used-to-be blue jeans or lounge pants if I am not planning on going out again. The first of many

This is probally the first of many pregnant blogs... not that this one will spawn more blogs itself but that it is about pregnancy. im in the shower. Erin enters the bathroom and i proceed to ask what she is doing. after a silence, i ask again "what r u doing". she begins to read the "what fathers need to know" section of "What to Expect When Your Expecting." anyway after the quickest shower i've taken i about 5 years, i get out and start comment on some of the points she made very clear which she had read from the "great book of knowledge." One of which was cleaning the house(something about chemicals making her sick so it becomes my job... idk.) So her attention goes directly to wall in the bathroom. It's dirty, has been for months.. She proceeds to ask me, and i quote "How do you clean walls, with a sponge? We've always just re-painted."

Babysitting Adults

I don't think I will ever understand how some people operate in an office environment. I am currently working on a project to design a new web based tracking system. I'm not leading this project because I am the most qualified designer or hold the greatest understanding of the business requirement, but because I have been successful in stopping two stubborn people from constantly fighting. One has a language barrier that makes it difficult for her to communicate exactly what she is thinking and the other has fewer patience than drunk at last call. Both ladies have poor people skills and tend to constantly talk over each other to get their point across, even when they are both wrong. The only good thing is that I get free food out of the deal. -Bibliotender Sent while sittin in a really boring meeting

Quitting

Quitting is a funny word. To quit: 1.  To depart from; leave:  "You and I are on the point of quitting the theater of our exploits"   (Horatio Nelson). 2.  To leave the company of:  had to quit the gathering in order to be home by midnight. 3.  To give up; relinquish:  quit a job. 4.  To abandon or put aside; forsake:  advised them to quit their dissipated ways. 5.  To cease or discontinue:  asked them to quit talking; quit smoking. 6.  Computer Science  To exit (an application). Now, quitting as easy as it sounds is difficult to say the least. Now depending on what you are quitting should dictated the level of difficulty.  Top Ten Most Popular Addictions in America Posted on 12/24/2007 2:54:55 PM in  #Health  | 11 comments comments If there’s anything America is known for, its indulgences, and what says “indulgence” better than addiction. Dinosaurs!!! Rawr?

Bishop museum, the second museum I have visited in as many weeks, recently boasted of an exhibit called 'DINOSAURS UNEARTHED'. My inner child is probably to blame for the waste of a day... I was expecting (EXPECTING!!!) to find dinosaur bones: T-Rex, Brontosaurus, Raptors (expecially after XKCD, simply to judge the size in person so that I can be better informed of possible raptor entry points) etc. As we walked up to the one story building that was to house these beasts I realize that something just doesn't add up. I must have seen a total of four (4!) bones and they were all in glass cases. The rest was all scale reconstructions of mechanically enhanced dinosaurs that made the oddest noises I have ever heard. It took me a total of five minutes to walk through the entire exhibit. I was pretty disappointed, and even more so when I decided I would just go walk around to check out the rest of the cool things at the museum and realized that it is pretty much all Hawaiian histo
